Rover non start common fault

This very common fault with all rover K series engine has two main causes, the first being the crankshaft position sensor located to the rear of the engine block facing in towards the bell housing. This luittle sensor registers the revolution of the engine by reading the teeth on the flywheel as the engine turns. Normally this crank sensor will become contaminated with metal fiings from the fly wheel that prevents it from reading thwe teeth correctly, replacing this sensor will usually cure a non start situation. The other common fault is the engine ECU, these ECU’s are so sensitive to outside radio radiation and voltage spike that just fitting the incorrect type of spark plugs can blow the ECU.
